Taking place at trail systems around the metro, group rides are an amazing place to make new friends, try out new features, and maybe even find a hidden jump or two!
Rides catering to all skill levels and focuses are available so check out the calendar to find the ones for you!

Embrace North X MWDL Night
Join MWDL for their second takeover of Embrace North on January 5th.
Embrace North X MWDL Night
Join MWDL at a full takeover of Embrace North in Northeast Minneapolis. Embrace North brings people together to experience the long standing practice of Sauna & Cold Water immersion. They have very generously opened their doors to the MWDL community to experience this together. We’ll be capping capacity at 25 folks. This event is open to any and all folks that have ridden with us in the past or are interested in joining us in the future.
Season Closer Open Group Ride
Description coming soon. Post ride hangs at Rush River Brewing.
Endurance Group Ride: Advanced
Advanced Group Ride: advanced skills are necessary for this longer and more technical ride. We will break up the groups as necessary so we all have a fun ride.
This will be about a 16 mile ride doing multiple laps at Leb. Working on endurance will build your strength and balance as a rider. We will focus on maintaining a steady pace while navigating technical features. We will stop for short breaks to refuel. Refueling is so important to maintaining energy while on longer rides. Please come prepared with nutrition and water. There is a water fountain at the trailhead. We will have a bike tool kit but we recommend bringing your own just in case.
Open Group Ride
Open Group Ride: All skill levels invited and we will break up the groups as necessary so we all have a fun ride.
We’ll be gathering at Theo Wirth for this open to all skill level group ride.
This is a no drop ride so plan for plenty of time to stop and chat, scope out features, and generally bring the stoke!
Advanced Group Ride: Jumps
Advanced Group Ride: Advanced skills are necessary for most of the features we’ll be riding.
Advanced group rides take place across the metro and are focused on working on some of the advanced features our trails have to offer! There will be plenty of time to discuss features on the trail, but this ride will not be led by coaches.
This advanced group ride is to explore the LEGENDARY jumps of Paradise at Monarch.
Grab your knee pads and your stoke and come get shreddy with some new best pals cheering you on!
This ride is for anyone BUT cis-men.
Gravity Group Ride: intermediate
Intermediate Group Ride: intermediate skills are necessary for this ride. There will be features present on all runs. Most will be gravity focused.
We'll be heading out to Localized a private trail system in Afton, MN. Localized features a trail system with trails ranging from Beginner to Advanced. There's a progressive jump line and also some downhill trails.

Join MWDL on the brand new trails at Braemar in Edina. This will be a gravity focused intermediate ride. We’ll start on their cross country trails which have several features that are either optional or you can roll over if you don’t feel like hitting them. We’ll end on the blue jump line, with an option to go to the black. We’ll session the blue line, work on jump technique, etc!
Fundamental 3 Skills Clinic
Climbing may not be your favorite, but it’s usually necessary to get to the downhill fun. In this clinic we will teach the fundamentals of climbing positions, getting on and off our bike while climbing and how important shifting at the right time can be.
BIPOC Fundamentals 2 Skills Clinic
Skills clinic is BIPOC-led, BIPOC centered, safe for BIPOC and open to all BIPOC participants, including cis men. This event is FREE for all attendees. In this clinic we will focus on intermediate mountain biking skills. This clinic is appropriate for beginning or intermediate riders.
Learn intermediate skills from our BICP certified coaches and finish up with a short group ride to test your new skills! Each session will have a skills focus and will be announced prior to registration. These may include: riding straight lines, corners, climbing and descending techniques, wheel lifts and more!
Dirt Church 2024
We’ll be heading back up north for our 3rd annual Dirt Church! Come out and set up camp with us. MWDL’s mission is to create riding environments for marginalized genders, so this weekend is specifically centered on anyone but cis-men. See below for a light schedule to the weekend. A more formal schedule to be announced closer to the event date. Reduced price tickets are available for BIPOC riders.
Open Group Ride
Open Group Ride: All skill levels invited and we will break up the groups as necessary so we all have a fun ride.
We’ll be gathering at Carver Lake Park for this open to all skill level group ride.
This is a no drop ride so plan for plenty of time to stop and chat, scope out features, and generally bring the stoke!
Skills Clinic: Roll Downs & Wheel Lifts
Maybe you’ve intentionally lifted your wheel(s) off the ground or maybe it was by total accident. If you’re interested in growing that skill this is the clinic for you! We’ll focus on roll downs and wheel lifts to get you ready to take your riding to the next level.
Intermediate Group Ride
Intermediate Group Ride: We will be riding mostly intermediate skill level trails and features.
We’ll be gathering at Battle Creek for this intermediate group ride. Meet at Battle Creek at 6 pm.
BIPOC Fundamentals 1 Skills Clinic
Skills clinic is BIPOC-led, BIPOC centered, safe for BIPOC and open to all BIPOC participants, including cis men. This event is FREE for all attendees. In this clinic we will focus on fundamental mountain biking skills. This clinic is appropriate for beginning or intermediate riders.
Destination Group Ride: DULUTH
Advanced Group Ride: We will be traversing advanced terrain and folks should feel comfortable with riding black trails, larger features and challenging climbs.
New to our 2024 offerings, we’ll have a couple destination group rides! Join us for an exhilarating group ride through the captivating terrain of Duluth. Gather with us at Piedmont at 11 am for a brief meet-and-greet before we kick off our adventure at noon. Let's roll together up North!
Travel and accommodations will be up to each attendee. From the Twin Cities it’s about a 2 hour drive. Folks are more than welcome to come up the night prior and camp or find a hotel.
This is a no drop ride so plan for plenty of time to stop and chat, scope out features, and generally bring the stoke!
This ride is for ABC (anyone by cis-men).
Fundamental 4 Skills Clinic
Feeling ready to let loose on the downhill, but not sure how to safely let yourself fly? In this clinic we will teach the fundamentals of descending, including how to brake on the downhill, dismount when needed and navigate those sneaky switchbacks.
Intermediate/Advanced Group Ride: Jumps & Skinnies
Intermediate/Advanced Group Ride: Intermediate or advanced skills are necessary for most of the features we’ll be riding.

Buddy Ride (Small Group Rides)
Buddy Group Rides are new to this season! Buddy Rides will be a smaller group format (think 2-3 people per group ride leader). This Buddy Ride will take place at Theo and will be focused on riders at a beginner level that would like some more one on one experience. Because, of the nature of these rides, we’ll have limited capacity.
FUNDAMENTAL SKILLS 2 CLINIC
So you took fundamental skills 1, now what? Or you've been riding for sometime but haven't had any skills coaching? This is the clinic for you!
Learn intermediate skills from our BICP certified coaches and finish up with a short group ride to test your new skills! Advanced Group Ride: Advanced skills are necessary for most of the features we’ll be riding.
Our advanced group rides take place across the metro and are focused on working on some of the advanced features our trails have to offer! Our advanced group rides are an opportunity to work on skills you are familiar with. There will be plenty of time to discuss features on the trail, but this ride will not be led by coaches.
Season Opener Group Ride
Open Group Ride: All skill levels invited and we will break up the groups as necessary so we all have a fun ride.
We’ll be kicking the season off with an open group ride. In this open group ride, we’ll be exploring the trails at Theo Wirth. Stick around afterwards to have a parking lot beverage, and meet some of the MWDL volunteers!
This is a no drop ride so plan for plenty of time to stop and chat, scope out features, and generally bring the stoke!

Hosted at The Trailhead courtesy of the Loppet Foundation off of Theodore Wirth Parkway, there is lots of parking and easy access to bathroom and water facilities.
Group Ride Happy Hour
Did you miss us??? Because we missed you!!! Come join us for happy hour at A Bar of Their Own to get reacquainted with us and hear all we have in store for the season ahead! We can’t wait to see you!
DIRT CHURCH 2023
We’ll be heading back up north for our 2nd annual event Dirt Church! Come out and set up camp with us. We’ll be riding at Red Head and Giant’s Ridge.
